CRÁ

Give blood demons a break already

You get a bad rap
you poor creatures
yourselves just another part of (super)nature
Your wings flapping
fangs beared
and blood dripping
from your lips
You can’t help your appetites
biological rhythms
and sleep
patterns
It’s the way God made you
The endless chatter
by us humans about how dangerous you are
is pointless
If I could spend a day in your shoes
I bet
I’d be more conscious
of your struggles
of your juggling
bat and vampire
existence
while we all complain about you and label you as an
imminent threat
Your true day in the sun will yet
come
I promise I will never
shun
you
but be the one
to stick up two fingers to this cruel world
that always gets five
when it tries to add two and two
instead of taking a deep dive
into your perspective
A little less take and a little more give
A little more understanding
and live and let live
It will always disturb
me that you are so misunderstood
Believe me when I say
that I see the good
in you
and just because others do not
and are bothered and hot
by your very presence
the workings of my conscience
will not regress
I’ll carry on fighting the good fight
day and night
whether during your daytime slumber or
nocturnal wanderings
I’ll always do my best to make others think a little more deeply and
see the light
