Could someone
anyone
please prescribe me some pill
some potion or tincture
that for even a few moments
will stop my heart from feeling like a boulder in my chest
and my legs like concrete pillars
and give me at least
a shot
a jolt
a pang
of relief
and act as a remedy
enabling me to have the utter gall
the clout and audacity
to go about my day with the pride and the
dignity
of those whose very martyrdom
I have been and still am witnessing daily
and whose very existence
is an act of resistance?
