A colonised mind is one hell of a drug
Pulling and tugging
at your heart and head
filling you with dread
Making you hug
your own misery
in a tight embrace
like you can’t survive without it
Wearing it like a badge of honour
it ramps up your fear of change
sense of begrudgement
suspicion of anyone different
to yourself
your nosy nature and incessant need to pass judgement
on one and all
The work that needs to be done is well
within your reach
They don’t teach this stuff
in school
but rather quite the opposite
You’re conditioned to serve the state
and remain in this state
Leave it at your peril
Disconnect from the misery and rebel
against the colonisation of your own mind
by the powers that be and have always been
To them your potentially free mind is the ultimate
mortal sin
But you have the power within
to win
to triumph and spin
things around
to turn the tables
More than capable
You have to want it however
That’s the bare minimum in this seemily impossible endeavour
Nothing has to be forever
A colonised mind is one hell of a drug
Don’t let it be the thug
beating you down
Don’t let yourself drown in its influence
Baby steps and consistency
a contingency
plan of sorts
is all that is needed to begin to break free
from this specific type of misery
A colonised mind is one hell of a drug
Pull the plug
Set your heart and spirit free
and join the real party
