WORD WORK: CRÁ

The truth is a lonely and terrifying place
in which one is
surrounded by ghouls who dare not face

harsh
reality

They can’t stomach what may hurt
Can’t cope with the mere idea of having their world of comfort shaken up and the bubble that is their parallel universe of privilege and safety burst

Their cocoon of slumber and stupor ripped to sinews and shreds
And the evil that co-exists directly juxtaposed with their inner sanctum of affluence and security
It’s all just too much for their heads

to even come close to wrapping themselves around

Wrapped in cotton wool they are
in layers of leisure bound
unless some truth bombs are dropped
slowly
steadily
but never whitewashedly
never wishy-washily

The truth is a lonely and terrifying place
making it nearby impossible to function in a society comprised of ghouls who can’t dare face
harsh realities

For all its terrifying loneliness and terror
I’d rather be here
with my thoughts
than be devoured by those with minds and souls that they’ve allowed to be bought
out
by demonic elites who control and corrupt,
exploit, steal, abuse
Enough is never enough

Enough already
The truth – albeit a terribly lonely place

Is where I prefer to be

Here I will linger
at my own pace

and endeavour to give myself grace
